A bookstore owner burns books in protest of America’s lack of support for the written word. Um, actually, America supports the written word rather well, to the tune of 200,000 new books per year in America alone, so we just can’t handle the onslaught of the printed page. Also, depends what books are being burned – I might have a few more to add to the bonfire.

Reading deprivation for a week. Sounds like something straight out of Guantanamo.

Harry Potter psychos prepared to do anything to buy book at midnight. (via Books, Inc) But any excitement over books is a rather welcome matter – now we just need to convince people to read more than one book a year, and preferably something better than a sensationalized fantasy.
