storySouth announced its ninth annual list of notable short stories published online.
Some of the best online publications that you should watch:
Prick of the Spindle, which garnered three notable stories of 2011.
Memorious, which I’ve always liked and has great design in addition to interesting stories, got two nods.
Phong Nguyen, the fiction editor at Pleiades, got one of the two nominations for Kenyon Review Online.
Guernica, always one of the heavyweight journals online, snagged three nods.
Anderbo is one of those journals that started publishing online early and I can’t believe it’s still around (it’s been around since 2005, which is ancient in online years). It’s still chugging at full speed, winning three notable story nominations.
Lastly, The Good Men Project, which started in 2009 but only started publishing fiction last year, won the Best New Online magazine award. Three of the stories published in its pages were named notable stories.
I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention that one of my stories was named a notable story. “To Will One Thing” was published by Shenandoah last year. Thanks to the judge that enjoyed it.
