More about Yaddo (a book!)
Unusual calls for submissions gathered on the blog of Hayden’s Ferry Review. While I wouldn’t say that a call for Death and Dying is all that unusual, the YouTube literary journal is rather strange.
Literary Rejections on Display offers up rather lengthy rejections, complete with details about grammar and pacing, from Editor Lee Klein at Eyeshot.net. It’s actually the type of rejection any writer would prefer over the standard “This is not for us” rejection letter, except that 99.9% of editors don’t have the time to write what Klein does, and a certain (perhaps large) percentage of writers might be ungrateful.
It’s National Novel Writing Month, or if you’re crazy about acronyms that are actually abbreviations smashed together, NaNoWriMo. For all the people with real jobs, I suggest NaShStWriMo. Figure it out. Now that’s a month long project that I will actually accomplish.
Writing term papers for money. Great money, I just can’t stomach the moral turpitude.
I’m coming late to it, but The Millions pointed me toward this list at the Guardian of Circadian Novels — novels that occur all in one day. You know, like “24” only actually good. I just love the precise taxonomy of breaking novels into such categories, and besides, circadian is a delightful word.
