I’m very much looking forward to the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books this weekend. There’s a list of all the attending authors, but you have to wade through a lot of children’s book authors and commercial writers (not that there’s anything wrong with them) to sift out the good stuff. Might be helpful to allow people to search for authors according to certain criteria.
As always, there are the standbys who come year after year: Ray Bradbury, you cool old codger, Chris Abani, T.C. Boyle, Aimee Bender, Steve Erickson, Ben Ehrenreich, Janet Fitch, Judith Freeman, Jim Ruland.
But I am particularly looking forward to these authors, three of which are accomplished short story artists:
- Muriel Barbery of Elegance of the Hedgehog fame.
- Uwem Akpan of Say You’re One of Them fame.
- Mary Gaitskill, most recently out with Don’t Cry.
- Wells Tower, the short story author of the moment.
- Marilynne Robinson, of Everything I Write Is Awesome fame.

“of Everything I Write is Awesome fame” made me laugh out loud.
Los Angeles Times festival of books
The April 25-26 book fair in LA will introduce new book by Vahid Razavi, Iranian American entrepreneur who gained priceless experiences by traveling the world and trying to find similarities with people. He is explaining the current situation in places like IRAN, USA, Serbia etc.
Also, he said that for some people travel is a way of life and it does not necessarily include 5 star hotels and vacations on the far away beaches. There are so many other ways to experience different cultures and enrich ones life. There is a book that talks allot about these kind of things, it is a travel journal of an Iranian American entrepreneur traveling in Balkans, called The Age of Nepotism. Our booth number in UCLA is 683 Zone F, if you are in the neighborhood come on over and pay us a visit. You also can visit the site

This looks like a really great event! Wow. Lucky you!
Some of my favorites are going to be there, like Aimee Bender. I heard Wells Tower read recently…it was a really good reading.
Hope you enjoy it!
